There have been numerous attempts to reach and enforce settlements and agreements regarding the situation in west Deraa countryside, but problems remain such as armed elements who are still wanted by the Syrian state. Yesterday multiple members of the Syrian army's 4th Division were killed in an attempt to assault the house of Abu Tariq al-Subaihi (who is originally from Atman) in the locality of al-Muzayrib in west Deraa countryside. Subaihi had previously kidnapped and killed nine members of the police forces following the assassination of his son and one of his relatives in May 2020.
Among the members of the Fourth Division killed in an ambush during the recent assault on Subaihi's house: Yusuf Abdullah al-Kaylani, who was originally from the locality of al-Kafrin in Damascus countryside. He was born in 2001. His father is deceased and he only had one brother. He abandoned school because of family circumstances in order to help his mother following the death of his father. He joined Syria's armed forces four years ago before the set date of his military service. He joined the Fourth Division and remained with it until the time of his death. Prior to Deraa he had also participated in battles in East Ghouta and Hama.
