Recently, Abu Himam al-Shami, who along with Sami al-Oraidi is a leader of Syria's al-Qa'ida-loyalist group Hurras al-Din, has issued statements criticising Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which broke ties with al-Qa'ida and is currently the leading faction in northwest Syria. Abu Himam called on Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham to resort to independent judicial arbitration to resolve disputes while also suggesting the group is implicated in U.S.-led coalition strikes against al-Qa'ida-linked figures in Syria. Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham's General Shari'i Council has issued a response to Abu Himam. The main points are as follows:
